Students have a Careers and Further Education section available to them in the Study Room. Additionally, Dr Caracheo arranges frequent career talks, visits from university admissions officers, and visits to higher level education fairs. The school counsellor and year group advisors are also trained in helping students understand their options, education and career goals.
Universities globally recognise the empowering certification provided by IGCSE, Advanced and Advanced Subsidiary qualifications. For British universities, entrance is through U.C.A.S., (www.ucas.com) and the school prepares students well in advance with career guidance, undertaken by staff. Mr Caracheo, the Career advisor, works in collaboration with A-level teachers and the Head of School to ensure the school has updated information (including booklets, university prospectuses, leaflets and videos) and can suitably guide the students in their choices.
Teachers take great care to advise students about university selection and application, so students feel prepared and knowledgable about their choices and the entrance process. PSAT and SAT examinations (for US Colleges and Universities) can also be arranged through the College Board. Previous ISCS graduates have applied to a broad range of universities and programmes, including Oxford, Cambridge, colleges in the US, Switzerland and Europe.
Students who wish to continue their higher education studies in the United States can take the U.S. College Board examinations (SATs).
Pupils register online with the College Board – www.collegeboard.com and the tests are taken at different times throughout the year at select registered centres.
